DAY 4 to 7 the Valle d’Itria – A Land of Olive Trees, Whitewashed Villages, and Trulli

As we venture deeper into Salento, we arrive at the point where the land plunges into the sea, marking the southernmost tip of Puglia.
This part of the journey brings you closer to some of the most scenic coastal gems of the region.
Our first stop is the charming town of Castro, where you’ll embark on a boat excursion from Castro Marina.
This leisurely ride along the coast will allow you to take in the breathtaking beauty of the cliffs and hidden coves. One of the highlights of this excursion is the chance to approach the Grotto of Zinzulusa, one of the most famous caves in the area. While entry into the grotto is prohibited, you’ll have the opportunity to admire its spectacular limestone formations from the water, a natural wonder that has inspired awe for centuries.
Continuing along the coast, we reach Santa Maria di Leuca, known as “de Finibus Terrae” — the end of the land. This picturesque village is steeped in stories and legends, with a history that dates back to ancient times. Santa Maria di Leuca offers dramatic views over the Adriatic and Ionian seas, where the two waters meet, creating a unique and stunning natural spectacle.
The coastal road that leads to Leuca is one of the most beautiful drives in Italy, lined with imposing cliffs and crystal-clear waters, making it an unforgettable journey as we head to this mythical corner of the Salento region.
